【高校英語】文法・語法その1

久しぶりに英語関連。高校英語の文法・語法を復習しようというコンセプト。

基本的に私の弱点を補完することが目的なので、受験生向きではないと思います。ごめんね。

1. Not only my parents but also my sister (is, are) against my opinion.

述語動詞をmy parentesとmy sisterのどちらに合わせるか?という問題。not only A but also Bの形を用いる場合には、述語動詞はBに一致させる。したがってisが正解。

2. The boy pretended (being, of being, to be) pirates.

動詞の目的語が不定詞か動名詞かという問題。pretendは不定詞のみを目的語に取るので、to beが正解。このような動詞はそのほかにもdecide, determine, hope, refuse, promise, desire, expectなどがある。

3. "Will you be going to Rome this summer after all?"
"I'm still (intending, supposing, visiting, wondering) to."

"still”にひっぱられてwonderingかと最初思ったが、「〜するかどうか思案する」という意味でwonderを使う場合、普通はwondering about ~の形になる。

映画に行こうかどうか思案しているところだ。
I'm wondering about going to a movie.

また、supposingでも意味が通りそうな気がしてしまうが、be supposed to doが基本的な使い方なのでこれもNG。visitだと目的語がなくなってしまう。よってこの問ではintendingが正解。

4. Let's go by taxi, (won't you, don't we, shall we, should we) ?

Let'sの付加疑問文にはshall weを用いる。

5. Let me have a look at it, (do, don't, have, shall, will) you?

4.と関連した問題だが、命令文の付加疑問文にはwill you (依頼)またはwon't you(勧誘)を用いる。

6. He is not going to see the drama, and (neither did I, I am neither, neither do I, I am not either.)

進行形を用いてることから考えてdoもしくはdidを含む選択肢は除外される。また、neither am Iと言うことはあってもI am neitherとは言わない（らしいです）。なのでI am not eitherが正解。
